Baze Malbus is a character from the Star Wars universe, first appearing in the film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016). He is a pragmatic and heavily armed soldier, deeply devoted to his spiritual friend and partner, Chirrut Îmwe.
Prior to the events of Rogue One, Baze and Chirrut were Guardians of the Whills, protectors of the Kyber Temple on Jedha. Following the Empire's occupation and the destruction of the temple, Baze became a cynical mercenary, though his loyalty to Chirrut remained unwavering.
Baze joins Jyn Erso's team to steal the plans for the Death Star. His expertise in weaponry and combat proves invaluable to the Rebel Alliance. He ultimately sacrifices himself during the Battle of Scarif to help protect the rebel forces and ensure the transmission of the Death Star plans.
